10 great
ideas for decorating boys rooms

Are you looking for some new ideas for your son’s room? Here are 10
great decorating ideas for your boy’s
room.
1.
Communicate –
Talk to your son and listen to his ideas, how does he want his room.
Involve your son, let him help. He will feel so proud of him self for
helping bringing things in to the room or organize a shelf… Have fun
together!
2.
Decide
colors –
What colors do you want on the walls and on the floor? Do you want to
paint the ceiling? Do you want to paint the walls or put wall paper up?
You can make a large room feel cozy with warm colors. You open up a
small room with cool colors or neutrals.
3.
Pick a
theme
– A boys theme could be safari, animals, cars, airplanes, trains, outer
space, army, sports, pirates, cowboy, dinosaurs, knights, a favorite
cartoon character… What is your son’s biggest interest? That’s your
theme. If he loves blue and animals, make that your theme.
4.
Use the
theme –
You can use your theme on the bedspread, pillows, a rug, curtains,
murals, pictures, art, wall hangings, things that are easy to change if
your son grows out of a theme.
5.
Organize
–
If you organize the room in a way that is easy for him to help cleaning
up, he is more likely to do so. The more storage you have, the better.
Make sure the big toys have there spots. Use big bins for small toys so
it is just to throw it all in. The easier it is to keep the room clean,
the cleaner it will remain. If you have a lot of closet space, organize
one of them as toy storage.

6.
Accessories
- If you want to keep the walls in one color you can always dress the
walls up with colorful accessories. Put murals, wall hangings, pictures
or even a little message on your son’s wall. If your theme is animals,
take a picture at the zoo and put on his wall.

7.
Your
son’s art
- Your son’s drawings and paintings make great art and add nice colors
to the room. Frame a few pieces and put them up. You can also put a
string up with two nails and fasten the paintings on the string with
paperclips. Your son will be so proud seeing his own art on the wall.
8.
Open
book shelf
- Get your son an open book shelf, were you can display
the front of
his favorite books. Make sure it is in a level were he can reach the
books him selves. If your theme is animals put his favorite animal books
up.
9.
Space -
If your son is younger make sure he has lots of space on the floor to
play. If you have an older boy he wants areas were he can do his home
work and hang out with his friends.
10.
Small
table and chairs
for play
- This will bring out creativity and fantasy. Here he can play with
puzzles, draw or have a snack. If you have an older son put in a desk
for him instead.
